Coach to Les Contamines

Snow Express does not run directly to Les Contamines however we run a weekly service to Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains train station which is approximately 15 minutes from Les Contamines.  The resort of Les Contamines can easily be accessed by bus or taxi from the train station.

The coach leaves from London Victoria Colonnade Coach Station with an additional collection point at Stop 24 Services in Folkstone. The coach travels overnight from Calais making comfort stops en-route to our northern interchange point. From here the coach will either carry on directly to Saint Gervais Les Bains Le Fayet or there will be a vehicle ready waiting to transfer you on to Saint Gervais Les Bains.  The drop off point and pick up point outside the train station map below.

A shuttle bus operates between St Gervais Les Bains and Les Contamines which is run by SAT Autocars - their timetable can be found on www.altibus.com.

Les Contamines Resort

In the heart of the Mont Blanc region at the end of a stunning valley lies the picturesque town of Les Contamines-Monttjoie.  Although it hosts a surprising amount of fantastic ski terrain around a huge undulating bowl, it is still a secret gem within the Haute Savoie region of France. The farming town has a much more authentic feel to it than the larger purpose built ski resorts and if you are after a relaxing week enjoying some great skiing followed by a nice glass of wine in the evening, then Les Contamines offers you just this.

The ski area is outside of the main village but the main lift station is serviced by a local bus.  Once there, the lifts take you as high as the Aiguille Croche at 2500m with pistes covering a vast area of 120km and a vertical drop of 1336m. On the other side of the Contamines ridgeline, you can ski down to Hauteluce les Contamines with its fine selection of friendly blue and red runs.

The ski area provides a fantastic range of runs especially for beginners and intermediate skiers. There are 2 designated beginner areas high up on the mountain so those new to the sport will still enjoy the fantastic high mountain views that are often only available for the more experienced. The pistes are long, open and wide with a more rolling and relaxed landscape than its neighbour Chamonix, with a huge variety of terrain available for people that are competent on blues and reds. The ski slopes meander down through each of the valleys passing ancient forests, alpine farms and numerous small restaurants.  Although the ski area does offer some black runs, what is more enjoyable for those competent on harder terrain is to break off the side of the piste and explore the couloirs and tree lines that surround the ski area.  Les Contamines  also boasts four excellent snowparks, a specific snowboard mogul piste as well as a half pipe equipped with a rope tow.
